How do you describe love
Without using the word love?
What is love?
Mutual vanity.
A hideous chimaera;
A fictional beast
The head end of fear,
The tail end of lust
And the midriff of settling
For what you have got.
A well folded newspaper.
A young man, arising on a bus
Donating his comfort to another.
Carrying someones bag off the train.
Holding a door open.
Saying hello.
Picking up another’s dropped possessions.
All carry more true,
Eurgh,
“love”
Than that saccharine four letter word
And its application to relationships.
